A year ago, Gaby Foster and her family were excitedly expecting the family's first little boy. Sadly, little Jalen was born sleeping at 25 weeks due to a common bacteria known as Group B Strep. Of course, Gaby and her family was heartbroken and forever changed, but in her grief, this mother decided that in her son's memory, she would create a way to help other families deal with such devastation. Thus was born, Jalen's Gift Foundation.
Gaby reached out to AOK to see if we could help with their first ever event, and after meeting with this inspirational woman, I could not say anything but, "Of course."
"Jalen's Gift Foundation's "Gone but Not Forgotten Vigil" is a day to honor, remember and celebrate our babies that have been lost in pregnancy or infancy. This event will not only promote awareness on such tragic loss, but also bring the community together to grieve as one. There are no words to explain such loss. No one should have to grieve alone. "
Tonight, we will need committed, enthusiastic volunteers to help with registration, ushering, distribution of luminaries, raffle sales and filling balloons with helium for the vigil.
Although the event starts at 6pm, we ask that you arrive at 5PM to familiarize yourself with the event and to be assigned a position. Please gather at registration.
I always ask that you RSVP with integrity, but it is especially important tonight. This is an inaugural event to help a group of special families. I do not want to let them down.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
