Do you have some free time on Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11th and want to put that free time to good use? How about spending a few hours helping out at the Three Square Food Bank. Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. We combine food banking (warehousing canned and boxed goods), food rescue (obtaining surplus or unused meats, bread, dairy and produce from hospitality and grocery outlets), and ready-to-eat meals to be the most complete food solution for Southern Nevada.
Duties: sorting unopened donated product and inspecting the product for visible signs of damage and/or contamination, verifying the expiration date, separating product by type (i.e. food product in one tote, diapers ... in another, paper products in another, etc.) restocking grocery shelves, cleaning shelves and other display cases, sweeping the floor surrounding the shopping area, pulling damaged products from the shelves.
Volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time, be comfortable with bending and standing on concrete, be 10 years of age (10-15 need guardian present) or older (if under 18, also must have a parent/guardian sign permission slip prior to volunteering). Ages 16-17 do not require a guardian present, only permission slip signed.
Dress Code: Closed toe shoes, no tank tops, knee length shorts or pants and a smile.
