I came across this volunteer event at the Gilcrease Animal Sanctuary. I personally have never been (nor heard) of this in our own backyard and I am excited to go check it out.
On June 21st, the sanctuary is hosting the Picnic With the Peacocks event which is a family event for kids to come check out the sanctuary. In 1970, the Gilcrease family officially founded the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, which is now a non – profit 501(c)3 dedicated to providing safe-haven for animals of all types. The sanctuary’s board-of-directors, staff and volunteers are equally dedicated to providing quality care to needy animals, and to providing ever-expanding educational and recreational activities for the public.
They are looking for volunteers to help man the game booths for the kids. Please wear shorts, t-shirt and closed toe shoes. Some of the booths will be in the shade and the rest are under tents. All volunteers need to be at least 18 years old. The sanctuary will be providing drinks and lunch to the volunteers.
I am looking forward to seeing you out there. Please RSVP with integrity. They also ask that we volunteer for the whole shift. It starts at 11AM and they want us to come at 10:30AM to be briefed on how to operate the games and any other questions we may have.
