Back to School Uniform and Supplies Drive to Benefit The Shade Tree

The Shade Tree, which is a shelter for woman and children mission is:

"To provide safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and to offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance".

Without the help of the community and groups like AOK, The Shade Tree cannot provide these much needed services.

The school year is approaching quickly and the children at The Shade Tree need clothing and supplies to make sure they have a successful school year.

What better way to give back to the community AND have a cup of joe with your fellow AOK members!  We would love to see/meet you, even if you cannot stay very long.

Come join us at Sunrise Coffee from 10am to 1pm.  All donations will be given to the Shade Tree.

Their greatest need is for new school uniforms.  These can be purchased at stores such as Target, Old Navy and Walmart.

The children that attend Martinez Elementary School wear Royal Blue or White polo shirts and and Khaki pants (girls and boys sizes S-XL). The children that attend Rancho High School and & J.D. Smith Middle School wear solid color shirts and any pants (men and women sizes S-XL).

In addition any school supplies such as back packs, notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, 3 ring binders, loose leaf paper, copy paper, etc. will also be accepted.   I apologizefor the short notice for this Meetup.  A few logistics had to be worked out with The Shade Tree before it could be posted.    Just remember, no donation is too small, the children at The Shade Tree will be grateful with anything they receive.  Every little bit counts!   Look forward to seeing you on Saturday at Sunrise Coffee.  If you have any questions please contact me.

Terrific idea,...but I think we should have had a lot more support for this worthy cause.

Hey, Jeff....ya know how some churches require the homeless to listen to a sermon to get fed? Well, in my case, the requirement is for you to listen to a political rant!!

Denise is right! So we can all do lunch another time! I was hoping Carrol was going to treat us all to lunch,...oh well. Hey how late can we come to drop off stuff?

Oh....I love the food and drink at Sunrise. I am thinking that I am just going to get a gift card or prepaid Visa rather than try to pick out clothing.

It's awesome that Sunrise Cafe opens their doors for us to hold these events. We always take up their valuable tables and drink their flavored free water. I prefer to support the coffee house and have lunch there. They have awesome vegetarian options and all around good healthy foods.
