I love Nevada Public Radio. I can often be heard exclaiming, “Guess what I heard on KNPR,” or “Oh yeah, I already heard that on KNPR.” For those of you unaware of this fabulous find on the FM dial, you are sadly missing shows like the hilarious but topical, “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me,” or the tear jerking, “This American Life, “ or even the funniest, smartest mechanics to ever lug a wrench, “The Car Guys.” Each day is filled with sharp, savvy news and thought provoking programming.
KNPR works on a limited budget and relies heavily on public support in their mission to bring quality radio to the airwaves. Fundraising is a major component of that. So, I am looking for 6 dependable AOK volunteers to pick up a phone and lend a hand on October 18 from 2:00PM to 6PM. All volunteers must be over 18, have basic computer/keyboard skills and be comfortable using a laptop. There will be a brief training. The staff will try to provide a meal, but please feel free to bring a beverage and a snack.
AOK has not only participated in four past member drives, but both Alicia and Mary-Beth, were featured on State of Nevada. SO....YAY KNPR!
Please, please, please RSVP with integrity because we have all the volunteer spots that afternoon. Also note that there might be some down time in between calls as shows are being broadcast. We always have lively chatter and are never bored, but you may want to bring a magazine or something.
KNPR is located on the west side of the campus of the College of Southern Nevada just off of Torrey Pines Dr. The address is 1289 S Torrey Pines Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89146. Parking is available in the lots in both the front and side of the building. Volunteers are welcome to park anywhere that there is an available spot including the college parking area.
