Thanksgiving is a perfect time to stop for a moment once a year and remember to give thanks. It's a time to be grateful for one's health, family, friends and having food on the table.
A.O.K. member, Ilene Mann, with the social service organization Wellness, Redemption & Rehabilitation Program (WRRP) will be hosting "Turkey's in the Desert."
WRRP, along with their many supporters will be providing a Thanksgiving meal to approximately 300 needy families from two Las Vegas area schools: Whitney Elementary and Ruby Thomas Elementary.
WRRP, believes, as we all do, that no family should be prevented by economic circumstances from coming together on Thanksgiving Day to share a meal and the hope of a better life in the Land of Opportunity.
Monday, November 19th @ 9:30am A.O.K will hook up with Ilene at Whitney Elementary. We will be putting together makings of a Thanksgiving feast! We'll fill bags of all the "fillings" to make for a very festive holiday. Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, cornbread, potatoes, veggies and pie...oh my!
We'll even be putting a little treat from Toys 4 Smiles in each bag.
Volunteer time is roughly 2 hours.
Please, RSVP with dignity.
