Spring will soon spring here in the Las Vegas Valley, but back where I come from in the frozen Tundra of Southern New Hampshire many of my friends will just be getting water and power back after a winter of snow storms. While we are enjoying wonderful strolls, bike rides and relaxing games of golf, back home people are still hunkering down to avoid icy roads and mountainous piles of snow. A favorite way to spend those cold winter nights is to simmer a pot of comfort food and gather around the dining room table for game night.
As new Southern Nevadans, we have also grown to love a very special local custom as well: The Las Vegas AIDS Walk to benefit AID for AIDS of Nevada. ( www.afanlv.org ) Many Acts of Kindness members will be joining in the Walk with TEAM WINOS, the energetic, fun, creative group captained AOK’s own Denise Amlie.
So in the tradition of our beloved New England and to benefit a new tradition, we want to welcome you to our home to share some comfort food and a night of our favorite games. The evening will feature chili, cornbread, root beer and games ranging from the new fangled technology of Rock Band ( played on a 109 inch screen) to the classic fun of Monopoly, Clue and Pictionary. There will be prizes too.
We suggest a minimum donation of $10/person with every penny going to support AFAN and its mission to end the scourge of AIDS.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!
We are always looking for donations of prizes and/or silent auction items. If you can help or know of a business that would donate, please call Mary-Beth at[masked]
