A meetup to check your bike over thoroughly, have a chat and perhaps give your bike a good clean :)
Hi Fung, Sounds good. It will be a good opportunity to meet everyone and have a chat.
so fung are you going to down grade to the bike we spoke about?
That one sold... Missed that one. Actually I more prefer a naked at this stage
yes naked bikes seem to be popular these days,i have no idea why lol
My favourite is BMW s1000rr and Yamaha R1. But decided to get a Fz1n instead. Recently I went on a road trip to Philip Island, did a 2 days of track and in total about 3300kms in 8 days. And no way i would have done that on a s100 or a R1. Faring motorbikes were designed for aero dynamics in the races in order to attain maximum speed, etc. I would recommend naked bikes to a person who wants an adventure, bit of fun on the track, everyday use and short/long weekend trips.
gday guys have you not seen the chat page , ps i spoke to neil and the address will apear soon for meetup- maintinance day
Hi everyone! Fred, I have updated the address details. Thanks for organising this meetup Fred and thanks Madhan for offering to host it at your place. Cheers, Neil.
Great to see so many people interested in this..I am looking forward to meeting the riders I haven't met yet.. It will be great to meet you Refik, Kim, Michael and Thomas and to check out your bikes of course! We have a major repair to do to Fred's bike so we should be busy.. and of course Brandon's bike could always do with a wash ;)
hi fung er6n sounds like a good bike, a review says it has slightly more torque than a zx6r. other option suzuki gladius. good article here. http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/kawasaki/2009-kawa...![]()
maybe yamaha and honda have options too. its a tough decision buying a new bike..
Brandon: yes naked bikes seem to be popular these days,i have no idea why lol << i saw that.. lol
i believe becoz of more people start using bike to commute is one of the reason.
is that gonna fit into your yard Madzz?? if u serve coffee, that will be 2nd Amber light cafe?!... lol
Anyway, i will just drive down.
I'm Josh, I remember you went on a couple of MR2 drives with us in the hills, I have the white SW20 turbo.
I was going to time this meet with changing my frount pads and putting on a needed new chain. will i need to bring my own tools by bike in my backpack or will there be plenty of tools down there for everyone to use?
changing the chain and lining it up straight would also be a lot easier having the bike up on a stand. will there be a stand down there to use?
Hi Fred, you need any help organising anything for Sunday? Is there anything we need to bring except whatever tools we can carry and our bikes of course :) ?
if anyone comming to this wants to save money on bike maintanance but dosent know to fix or change something like Oil, filters, Break pads/disks/fluids, chain etc anything. Just mention it here online and im sure me n others that service our own bikes would most likely enjoy helping you fix anything on your bike. Make sure you mention it first n buy the parts you need. Would save some people a lot of money in services
Hi Neil.... Yes it can fit in 15+ bikes. Not a worry. The front yard is pretty huge, but there is not enough shade for a hot day. But it should be alright I guess.
Hi All
Let me know if you want me to buy some "ICE"? You all bringing any drinks, beers etc? Let me know? There is also a subway at the petrol station, if anyone wants to have lunch there.
Just a suggestion:-
General things you might need for Sunday:
Tools (Standard)
Wax & Polish
Chain lube
Few cleaning cloths.
Approx $30 - $40 for the above at super cheap auto/repco.
Additional:
Right tools for changing oil, oil filter, brake pads etc etc.
Skills Matching:
It will be nice if someone could list their experience and what they are good at. For ex: Chaning oil/oil filters/other mechanical work etc.
gday group , many are worried about mechanical experience , i have owned 10 od motorbikes and have rebuilt honda 125 four strokes, changed plugs , oil air fuel filters, clutches , cables , just about most things mechanical , though im not good at electrical stuff, thought id mention it fred
on sunday i will be bringing my bike and my car with tools and food drinks whatever , that might help fred
well i listed a few things above but i dont see any replys there. anyone wants help re-freshing parts on their bike just ask
I need to change the engine oil in my scooter, Does anyone know where to get it from, and what brand is recommended for scooters, or is the same ?
gday sayf most motors are 50 grade like its 20-50 grade oil and if your going to change it get a new oil filter a 4 litre oil pack will do most motorbikes , i have changed them on my bikes before not hard, regarding cost the better quality cost more say 20 dollars for oil and 50 for synthetic oil , and you will have to ask about a oil filter cost.
i got told by a peterstevens guy any 4T oil will do the job. i used the one sold in super cheap auto for $40-50/4L full-syn. but i only need less than 1L for my SYM 125.
check if u need an oil filiter. u might not need one, if like the VS125. it has a separated drain bolt for oil and stain.
I have done oil and filter changes, spark plugs, chain adjustment, fixing wiring faults, switches, lights, fuses, replacing CDI's, regulator/rectifiers etc.... If that helps anyone?
Luckily it seems most modern bikes need little work, aside from
regular service, but this will be a good chance to check the bike over: fluid levels (oil, coolant, brake fluid) brake pads, battery terminals, chain lube/adjust etc.. Madhan I like your idea (and Danny) of listing what you know about so knowledge can be shared. I am sure Fred's ( and others) years of experience will prove invaluable on this one :) Other than that it will be nice to have a chat and give the bike a clean.
Hey Madhan, your idea of getting some ice sounds like a good one! Perhaps we can all chip in for a couple of cases of beer and some soft drinks. What do you all think?
I have done most things, from changing oil to replacing clutches (many years ago), now all I do is change oils :( I am happy to chip in for ice, drinks etc.
I have done complete engine rebuilds before as well as servicing, it might pay for people to bring there service manual and a workshop manual if they have one for there bikes. I wont be able to stay for too long as I have to work that day.
I think Motul is probably one of the best oils you can get here.
4ltrs full synth is $71 at DAMotorcycles you could shop around it might be cheaper. I just changed my oil I used Silkolene comp4 full synth that I got from supercheapauto for $49 the bike starts easier I think the gear changes feel a little better too. Clutch noise under heavy take offs though. Ill probably try motul full synth next time :)
As I said if anyone wants help changing or refreshing anything on their bike just bring the parts you need, if unsure ask a store. When you turn up at the meet it sounds like their will be at least 4 people that will know how to help you
Hey Madaz what about disposal of fluids and oil trays for those dropping there oil? I will be bringing a compression tester for those interested bring a plug puller that fits your bike
Hey Thomas....I did not think about the disposals of fluids. I am sure we can work it out something on sunday. Is anyone bringing the oil tray?
I wasnt sure I was going to be able to make it.. I arrived about 3.30 Unfortunately I missed Fred, but It was great to catch up with everyone today.
Hey Brandon, sorry you couldn't make this one mate. I was looking forward to catching up with you and giving you a hand with your bike. Hope to see you on the next one. Cheers, Neil.
Was great to meet some of you yesterday, and thanks for Madhan for being a good host. Looking forward to another meet soon.
