Couscous lunch at Glenelg
Couscous is a Berber dish consisting of spherical granules made by rolling and shaping moistened semolina wheat and flour. Traditional couscous requires considerable preparation time and is usually steamed.
The dish is a primary staple throughout North Africa (the Maghreb), and has found popularity primarely in France, and to some extent the rest of Western Europe. Couscous is traditionally served under a meat and/or vegetable stew. It can also be eaten alone, flavoured or plain, warm or cold, as a dessert or a side dish.
At this meetup we will serve the classic dish; steamed couscous served with meat and vegetable stew.
The event will be hosted by our dear friends Lara and Sebastien in their lovely home in Glenelg. Alex will display his culinary skills by supervising kitchen operations. This is going to be a Sunday lunchtime meal so that people can enjoy the seaside atmosphere, and might even want to go for a wander on the beach afterwards.
What to bring (if you wish):
Salads (a couple for the whole group), deserts, drinks, and a gold coin. Please use the commentary section below to indicate to others what you intend to bring. If you decide not to bring anything, come anyway, you will be asked to do the dishes.
