Bring your own laptop and learn how to build a mobile application on iPhone, iPad, and Android.
HTML has emerged as a powerful alternative to "native" to enable cross-platform mobile application development. But how do you build large, complex, and native-like mobile apps using HTML, JavaScript and CSS? This session covers modern strategies to build large JavaScript projects using JavaScript MVC frameworks, and how to use PhoneGap to leverage the native capabilities of your device in JavaScript and to package your HTML application as a native app for distribution through the different app stores.
This is not a product pitch. This is going to be a highly hands-on, rapid fire workshop. Topics include using Backbone.js, Boostrap from Twitter, JQuery and other technologies to build sophisticated apps.
Speakers
Christophe Coenraets, Technical Evangelist for Adobe
Greg Wilson, Developer Evangelist for Adobe
Ben Forta, Developer Relations for Adobe
The class was easy to follow and insightful. I learned a lot of extras that I did not intend on. The speakers knew the topics really well and stuck to the curriculum. I believe that with type of focused class and structure anyone will be able to apply themselves if they have the desire to do so.
I especially like the follow up email with the resources referenced for our convenience. This makes the ability to continue on much easier than trying to remember every particular.
Terence was very helpful moving the topics along when there was some side tracking which I personally liked. The instructors were also kind in addressing students personal questions after class so they got the information there were looking for as well.
Overall a very successful Meetup with Adobe. Kind of envious of the person that won the CS6 package but happy for them as well. I can't wait for another Meetup!!

Great meetup on building apps with PhoneGap. I thought the discussion about what PhoneGap can do was very informative.

It was a great meetup. Learned new things. The only thing I would critique is need for more efficient Wi-Fi setup as it was needed for this meetup’s curriculum.

Very informative. Good primer on the PhoneGap technology. Great demonstration especially with the PhoneGap API Explorer.

I thought the presentations were done well, and I learned quite a bit. This meetup definitely sparked my interest in developing apps using Phonegap.

This meetup was very informative. I was not super clear on the different js libraries like backbone and such... now I am crystal clear!

We're meeting tomorrow at the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce in Town Square. Park in the South Garage directly behind the Apple Store in Town Square. Walk from the parking garage to the main building and take the elevator to the third floor.
We know many people will be arriving directly from work. We'll have sandwiches starting at 5:30pm.
Please bring your PC or Mac laptop with Google Chrome browser installed. You can use any text editor to create the HTML files in the presentation.

Hey everyone! Christophe, Ben and I look forward to speaking at this event! We're hoping some of you want to do some hands-on coding during this event. Although it would be great for you to have PhoneGap installed with XCode or Android SDK, it's actually sufficient to simply have Chrome browser and a text editor for the work we'll be doing. See you in a few days! .. Greg
