Bloomer Park Night Hike

  • Mar 21, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let’s go hiking on the trails in the Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills again. We will be going for a 5 to 6 mile hike along some of the park’s trails at moderately fast pace. If it's not below freezing, we might encounter some muddy areas, therefore wear proper footwear.

Since we will be entering the park on foot from the Clinton River trail, the access is FREE.

We will meet in the parking lot of Letica Dr south of Parkdale Rd, before Letica Dr turns into E 2nd St. If you do not know where it is from the description, please check the provided maps carefully.

This is quite a demanding hike. We hike about 6 miles in a little over 2 hours in snow with occasional steep hill to climb.

You need to bring some kind of light to light the path in front of you (headlamp, flashlight, etc.).

Following the hike we will go to the Alibi at 6700 Rochester Rd, Troy ( between Square Lake Rd and South Blvd, on the east side of Rochester Rd.) to eat, drink and socialize.

Since we have a lot of first timers signed up for the event, I am coping and pasting the warning from the past events here: ... just to make things clear, I want to emphasize that this is not 'a walk in the mall' type of hike. On the contrary, it is a pretty hard exercise. Expect to get out of breath at times, expect to get sweaty. The terrain is hilly, there is still a lot of snow that is now frozen and uneven. Walking on it is a hard exercise. People twist their ankles at times. Therefore, if you're not in a fairly good physical shape, it might not be for you... Too often we get people who think that this is 'a stroll in the park', and they end up being sore and miserable...

Sounds an exciting plan. I am new in the group and have actually never hiked such long. However, I can run around 4 miles, and so this should not be very challenging.
