Great Meetup. Thank you for setting this up for all of us to enjoy. I had a great ride with a very nice group of people! The fireworks over the lake and the picnic were a perfect way to spend a summer night.

Didn't get notification that I was off wait list until this morning, so no bike packed and no lights charged. Will have to cancel :(

THIS IS A VERY LARGE GROUP. WE ARE DEPARTING THE MILLS @ 7:30 pm. The return departure is 5 mins after the fireworks end.

We are not planning on riding around the lake!

I want to strongly suggest that everybody brings some kind of light - bike light, headlamp, etc. We have a big group and might get separated in the park or on the way back. The trail back will be dark, and especially the Clinton River Trail section from Dequindre. You do NOT want to be stranded there on the bike without the light!

Adding to Rich's comment, there will be traffic exiting the park after the fireworks. You want both tail and headlamps so drivers can see you.

Is this the paved trail along Shelby Road?I would like to meet you on the path by the visitor center since I am a little slower, I plan on heading out a little earlier than the rest of the group

Yes, it is. We plan to ride the MOT from Rochester to Shelby rd, enter the park on the Shelby entrance. That should be around 8:00 pm. At this point we can predict where we are going to be "parked" once inside the park.

Everyone is responsible for its own food and drinks (alcohol is allowed at Stoney Creek except for glass). Also, it is recommended a blanket, mosquito repellent and bike locks

Hi! Are the fireworks at Stony Creek in Shelby??! Cuz they had some last night (Sat.)....

The fireworks are at Stoney Creek Metropark. Yesterday was a different event.

How bright a light do you recommend? I looked them up online and the range is ridiculous.

    1 · June 18, 2014

    • Bill F

Hi Cindy. There will be several of us riding on the trail in a fairly tight pack. Some of us have really bright lights to illuminate the trail at a distance and will ride near the front. Bob carries almost enough light to guide freighters through a storm. You want at least enough that others can see you (including a tail light). I suggest you buy as bright a light as you are willing to pay for.

Hi Cindy, if you're looking for a relatively cheap light that works great... Try this one... It's the one I purchased last year since I use to commute in the dark. Love it.

Question: Since it will be dark after the fireworks, is the route back lit at all, or is the reason for lights more than alerting cars of the bikes' presence?

    June 17, 2014

    • Bill F

Hi Nick. There are no lights along the trail. It will be very dark on the way home. Everybody will need head and tail lights. With lghts, though, the ride is reasonably safe.
