Have you ever reached a point in an adventure (race or not) where getting dirtier/wetter didn't matter any more? Did that feel like despair or freedom?

Not specifically in adventure racing. But in general, my rule of thumb for how good a time I've had is how big a ring I leave in the tub.

Have you ever mountain biked on a trail at night?

Yes. I've done several endurance mountain bike races, including the old 24 Hours of Snowshoe (on a team).

Have you learned how to use a compass and map to navigate?

Have you participated in an adventure race before? What is interesting to you about AR?

One. The variety, the uncertainty.

What's your strongest AR discipline - biking, paddling, trekking, ropes, navigation? Your weakest?

"Strongest" suggests a degree of strength to me. I'm more a jack of all trades.

I write about outdoor adventure and am writing a book about the same in the Southeast. One section will be on adventure racing. I'm hoping to get insight into the sport through the group, as well as do a race or two.
