It's the perfect time of year to do Defiance Mountain. This is about 10 mile round trip with a 3,600 foot gain. It's steep in places. I consider this a strenuous hike.
From the Meetup point at Sno Valley Coffee, let's car pool as much as possible. It's about a 25-minute drive from Sno Valley Coffee to the Ira Spring trailhead. This involves driving on a dirt road for about 4 miles near the trailhead. I have room for four people in my truck. Northwest Trails Pass is required at the trailhead.
To start, we will take the old Mason Lake trail then summit Defiance Mountain. On our return trip, we will take the new Ira Spring trail back to create our loop hike. The berries are starting to come our too. We will be on the lookout.
Lot's of bugs right now too. Bring the bug repellent and even a head net to get some relief.
Be sure to bring plenty of water also.
Let's go hiking!
