Enjoyable hiking folks were coming and going all hike, and the award-winning star of the show was (... "envelope, please") ... the Rattlesnake Ledge Old Trail, which was a delight! Anyway, we rambled to the old Borrow Pit at 3200 feet, for a 7 mile RT, 2300 feet vertical-gain hike and a nice little workout on a nice afternoon.

I need to be back at the trailhead BY 4:45 (drivers ed for my daughter). So, I may need to hike down by myself (which I'm fine with). I'll meet at the trailhead.

That'll work fine, Barb. You can make it to at least Third Ledge, and likely the whole hike, and do that timeframe easily. I figured we'd hangout for a bit at First Ledge on the way down; you can skip that if necessary.

is the "trailhead" near the bathrooms, normal rattlesnake ridge parking lot?

    October 14, 2013

    • Aaron S

Normal Rattlesnake Trail start by the bathrooms, but we soon veer off the "highway trail" onto the much nicer Old Trail. We'll meet at 1 p.m. at the gate to the walk-in road.

Aaron, why a 1 pm start? Need your beauty sleep?! I'm likely heading Denny Creek/Malakwa Lake. Hope our paths cross again soon :)

Thelma and Annette requested that time, Piper. Fine with me, first request, first served. I should do some chores in the morning, anyway. I'm off to Troy, NY from Thur. to Sun. (my son's college's Parents' Weekend), but ... if our furlough extends into next week, expect some more long hikes. If everyone's go-go on this one, we may extend another mile or so to Rattlesnake East Peak.

I'm a "I think so". I'm taking tomorrow off. But need to get home, then somewhere else, at a certain time (after). So probably won't carpool.

Are you going here twice ?

Basically, yes. I have a couple of friends who wanted to do this route on Tuesday, so I posted it in case others want to come, too. I work for the FAA and am temporarily off work with the Gov't Shutdown.

Ok cool. Sorry I thought the date changed on the other event. And I can't do Tuesday. So just wanted to make sure they were separate. Enjoy the days off.... Or make the best of them :)
