Winter Training: Chirico Trail to Poo Poo Point

The Chirico Trail provides the shortest and easiest hike to two of the finest vistas anywhere in the Issaquah Alps, including spectacular Poo Poo Point. If the wind is right, we may see paragliders soaring off Poo Poo Point. At the extreme western end, however, an unusually steep drop-off at Poo Poo Point provides good views and a great place for dinner. Views overlook Issaquah, Lake Sammamish, and Tiger Mt 2 and 3.

Length: 1.8 miles one way
Variety: Out and back
Elevation Gain: 1650
Difficulty: moderate
Trail Open to: Hikers, Dogs on Leash
Passes Permits: None
Maps: Green Trails #204S Tiger Mountain

Driving Directions: I-90, exit 17 south, go through Issaquah on Front Street, which turns into Issaquah-Hobart Road. 3 miles South of town you’ll see an open field on the left, with the parking lot for the paragliders’ field.

This is a rain or shine hike, so be prepared for Winter weather (rain, shine, wind all in the same day).

We should be back to the cars about 11:30 a.m.

Sorry Brent, the 6:56 am confirmation didn't leave me enough time to make this hike. Looks like I'll go for a ride. Hope you all have a great hike!

Hi Brent, It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so there will probably be above the normal number of late no shows. Can I join( with my 4 footed, naturally micro-spiked buddy)?

Sorry - I have some kind of a stomach thing. I hope people on the waitlist can go now.

Hi! It appears I am on the waitlist, but I would really like to come- is this possible? I see Chee Wei has given up his spot....can someone let me know? Thanks!

Feel like crap now with my flu. Giving up the spot for someone who can bring a smile.

Happy to pick anyone up coming from the south end (Rainier Valley, Mt. Baker, Beacon Hill, Seward Park, etc).

Chee-Wei, what part of Seattle are you in? I'm coming from the south side of 90. If you are anywhere near there, happy to pick you up. - Isaac

      I live in U district.

Ah... that's a bit far for me to get out to, unfortunately. If worst came to worst, you could ride the 48 to somewhere near 23rd and Rainier and I'd grab you from that point, but that's probably not too convenient for you. Hopefully there's someone out there in your neighborhood.
