Mt Si Summit Loop Hike with North Bluff Scramble Route and Optional Bushwhack

Time: Noon USA Pacific

Mileage and Elevation: 9.5+ Miles, 3,900+ feet

Place: Little Mt. Si Trailhead Parking Lot Start

Level of Hiking Experience Required: High

Looking for adventure? Come join this unique hike on Mt. Si. It's a loop hike starting at the Little Mt. Si trail with an optional scramble route to the North Bluff of Mt Si which is the tallest point.

We will meet at the Little Si Parking Lot. From here, we will take the Boulder Loop Trail up to the Old Mt. Si Trail. About half way up, we will branch off onto the Northwest Passage Trail and drop about 500 feet and hook up with the New Mt. Si Trail at the Interpretive Walk. This is a brushy faint trail.

The hike starts up the New Mt. Si Trail to the Summit. Here, if it is a nice day, and the group is adventurist, we will go off trail around the West side of the Haystack and then walk straight up 300 feet to the North Bluff right next to the Haystack. Everyone seeking adventure goes to the top of the Haystack by the marked trail, but in my opinion, this is dangerous for non-climbers. I do not like it. My route around the front side of the Haystack is steep with loose footing, but safe. Plus, the North Bluff is posh compared to the Haystack.

Although this optional, I plan to drop down 400 feet off trail through to another view point directly North. I have not done this before, but it has been on my bucket. Since I will come back the same way, you can at the top of the North Bluff until I return in about an hour if you don't like bushwacking.

*Special Note*

You MUST be involved in regular exercise and be in near athletic condition. Although I plan to take many hours for this hike, it’s steep with a lot of elevation gain. It is truly a killer day hike.

*Directions*

Drive Interstate 90 and take the main North Bend exit, heading left into town. Turn right on North Bend Way and drive a couple miles to the Mount Si Road. Turn left, cross the bridge over the Snoqualmie River and park near the bridge in the marked lot. A Discover Pass is required at this trailhead.

*Address*
