If you haven't seen Minnewaska, you gotta! The walking is a mix of historic carriage roads and hiking trails and we'll be on both. Views are spectacular, easily accessed, and much more plentiful than the Catskills or Harriman.
Note: Hike will include approx. 2-3 hours of trail trimming (clipping) on one of the most beautiful sections of the Long Path. (This is my "personal" section...help me keep it in good shape!) Learn something about trail maintenance and give back to the hiking community. If you don't feel like actually working, you can come along and lend moral support during that part of the hike. (I only have about 7-8 hedge clippers in any case, but we cab switch off.)
Treat: There will likely be an option to do one or more challenging rock scrambles. There is no public transportation, but hopefully we'll have some drivers coming from the city who can offer rides. When you RSVP, please indicate whether you need a ride or can offer same.
As with all our events there is no fee, you particiapte at your own risk, and you will have to sign a rather daunting liability release and emergency contact form. See samples in About page. You'll also have to sign the Park's Volunteer Release Form.
