Harris Lake County Park - Hike

We will hike the 5 mile Peninsula Trail at Harris Lake County Park. The trail will lead us on an adventure through a variety of forest habitats, around old farm ponds, and along the shores of beautiful Harris Lake. Meet at the last parking lot (PAST the lot on the left for the Hog Run Mountain Bike Trail Head). There are 2 picnic shelters (Loblolly & Longleaf shelters) near this lot. Bring something to drink for the hike. All who respond "yes" will be sent a cell phone number to contact the organizer in case of an unexpected late arrival or last minute cancellation. Reference the following website link for information and driving directions for Harris Lake County Park. http://www.wakegov.com/parks/harrislake/Pages/default.aspx

We will plan to bring a picnic lunch to have after the hike.

It was a nice day, good hike, pleasant company. I did see the black snake and will try to take a picture next time. Thanks, John for organizing the hike.

Kathy W - this park is 15-20 miles south of Raleigh down Route 1. The hike should take about[masked] hrs.

How far is this from Raleigh? I have to work at 4:00 - what time do you think we'd be finished?

    Thanks, Kathy
