Come join us for a day trip to the Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck. The park features 1,500 waterfowl from 6 continents (all but Antarctica).
The park is about 1 1/2 hours from Raleigh. We will carpool from the Food Lion parking lot at the southeast corner of the intersection of Louisburg Road and Perry Creek Road.
After arriving at around 10:30, we can watch a short film about the park before being given a guided tour of the park at 11:00. We will then enjoy our lunch at one of their picnic areas. After lunch, for an additional fee, you can optionally venture into a corn maze and hopefully venture back out. We will then head back to Raleigh between 3:00 and 4:00.
Visit their website at: http://shwpark.com/
Note that this outing does involve fees. Park entrance - $9 for youngin's (61 and under) and $7 for those just gettin' good (62+)
Cost of guide (I'm told definitely worth the cost) - $3 payable to Ann at any point of the trip.
Optional fee for maze - $2
Remember to bring your money, water, lunch and insect repellent. Also remember to chip in for gas if you're not a driver.
