Exploratory Leisurely Bike Ride - White Oak Church Road to Southpoint

From the White Oak Church Road Trail head, We will cycle at a leisurely pace (not slow), around 11 mph to Southpoint Shopping Center where we will break for lunch and then return to our starting point. I believe the total distance will be around 18 miles.

Please allow for 2 to 3 hours.

This is an exploratory bike ride because, although I believe the trail is completely finished and accessible up to Southpoint Shopping Mall, I have not done it yet. Should there be a problem, we will find our way through back streets. We also are not quite sure about where we will stop for lunch but one of our members has suggested a few inexpensive eateries/restaurants.

Things to bring :  helmet, water, cash or credit card for lunch

Delightful ride. The speed and distance just lent itself to a perfect event.

To all : the ride is mostly on the Tobacco Trail but we have to ride 500 ft on Massey Church Road at some point between 2 sections of the ATT, not a problem if one is careful and disciplined.

There are a few eateries at the Target section of the Southpoint Mall. The trails lead directly into this section near HRGregg

Yes, I found that out yesterday (not an exploratory ride anymore ! - I went there...). There is Subway, Jake's Pizzeria and Rise bakery.

This is a wonderful ride, easy for all types of bikes. Wonderful area. I've been here only 6 weeks from NH and I love all the trails...

Isabelle, saw that the completion of the ATT bridge over I-40 has been delayed by 2 months: http://www.triangletrails.org/node/159

Thanks, John but I don't mean to go over the I-40. We will stay on the South side...
