Exploratory Kayak Outing on the Eno River - GPS 36.09298,-78.82372

This is an exploratory outing suggested by one of our members.

We will paddle for 2 1/2 - 3 hours on the Eno River upstream (not much current) and may be downstream also.

This is a flat water kayak outing. This area is new to the organizer and as usual, each individual is responsible for his/her own safety.

Apparently this part of the Eno River is popular with paddlers and we hope to be able to see some wild life

I examined my GPS for this paddle and FYI here are the stats. Total distance 7.5 miles, time 3:05, avg speed 2.4mph. Looking at Google Earth it appears that we were about 60% of the way to Penny's Bend.

Would love to. Need a kayak of my very own though. Love it! I go camping and kayaking every summer with friends. We call our "club" over 40 and divorced kayaking club. Lol

I very much enjoyed this little outing on the Eno River.. quite a change from the open lakes....it was a very peaceful place with birds and crickets that we shared with a few fishermen... thanks to Dale for suggesting this outing.

11 AM : the forecast is for a cloudy afternoon but with no significant rainfall (sprinkles). However the Doppler radar does not look that good. Please, check the website before heading out.

When you put in...if you go left there is a little river that comes in on your left not very far from the put-in, I think is the flat river (not sure)...but it's an awesome river to paddle. No wind, easy and a chance to really see stuff.

Good to know about this option and might try it on Sunday. I'll be looking for the reviews. Stop by the museum to say Howdy as that's where I'll be working.

My sister and I did this section last week! It's beautiful and relaxing! Water levels were great! Wish I could go again, with you!

Hey Isabelle - the stretch from the put-in, upstream to the bridge at Old Oxford Rd, is fun. I'm not sure what the water levels are now, but I know it's all normally passable. There's a cool abandoned railroad bridge near Old Oxford. I'd love to paddle with you all, but I've got to work then. Have fun. - Andy

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
