Frostbite Hike

We'll do a series of two moderately paced short hikes at Blue Jay Point County Park. Each hike will begin and end at the meetup location. The first hike will be 2 miles (approx. 45 minutes), and the second hike will be 3 miles ( approx. 75 minutes). If needed we'll take a warm up break in the Blue Jay Center building between hikes. Meet in the Blue Jay Center for Environmental Education parking lot. Restroom facilities and park information is available in the Blue Jay Center for Environmental Education Building. View the Blue Jay County Park website http://www.wakegov.com/parks/bluejay/Pages/default.aspx for information about the park, park brochure, trail map, and driving directions.

A contact number will be sent to members who RSVP.

We had a great time and I don't think anyone got frostbite (though my thumbs got pretty cold)(other fingers, together, were fine in the mittens) Thanks for the hike and lunch, Terry!

Really great group of people. Thoroughly enjoyed my first meetup with this group. Thanks, Terry for coaxing me out of the house on such a bitterly cold day, and for the lunch!

Had a great time! It was exactly what I needed! The company and pace warmed the below 20° Morning.

Very happy I joined with the rest of you. This was exactly the kind of activity I needed today! And although the cold almost stopped me, it obviously didn't. It was great meeting all of you, and I hope to do more in the future, as I visualize the activities of this meet up synchronizing perfectly with days that I get off from work! And thanks, Terry, for opening your house for and hosting lunch.

Now the forecast calls for a daytime high of 41*, mostly sunny with southerly winds at 6 mph. What a difference a day makes! Not quite frostbite weather but a typical winter day in Raleigh.

Great! Now if you wish to see exactly what is hiding behind those keys, and assuming you are on a system that is at least 10.6, you can view the keyboard oh line by clicking on the icon in the menu bar to the right. It will either be a flag of the language you are using (the flag only shows if you have more than one language loaded). Or it will be a square with some patterns inside it (an asterisk and dots). When you click on it you can select "Show Keyboard Viewer".

Terry - thanks for including me even though I couldn't walk! Not a bad deal - free lunch, getting waited on (thanks Bob) and spending time with good people!

Even though I had to wimp out, still a beautiful day for a hike. Thank you Terry for organizing and for lunch!!! Welcome to new members Kristyn and Michael, and to Kit after a long absence. :-)

Was looking forward to the challenges of this hike!! Unfortunately had a medical procedure today that will keep me off the trails for a few days. Enjoy, see you soon.

Looks to me like Frostbite is a perfect name for this hike! 28 degrees max! Yikes! Anyhow, I'm looking forward to it as my second hike of the year. (the first one was with triangle hikers in Cary) it has been over a year since I have participated outdoors, due to a most unexpected accident that got bit "in the way" (to keep the gory details out of this conversation). But now I'm back! Thank you for setting this up!

Sorry, backing out with a terrible head cold that started this morning. Walking in 20 degree weather sounds just awful right now! Have fun!!

A daytime high of 24* but at least it will be sunny --> http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail2/USNC0558
I'll be wearing my ski mittens, ski cap, and thermals. Terry, should I bring my balaclava since the wind is going to be blowing at 13 mph :>)
