Lake Jordan - New Hope Overlook Hike

  • March 31, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • New Hope Overlook Recreation Area at Jordan Lake

We will hike the two trails at the New Hope Overlook Recreation Area located on Jordan Lake at a moderate pace.

The total distance will be approximately 5.4 miles and take around 2.5 hours to complete. There is an option for hiking the first trail only, which is about 2.7 miles & returns you to the parking lot. There are restrooms at this parking area. Here's a link to the park trail map: http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/jord/pic...

A contract number will be sent to members who RSVP.

Since the weather is predicted to be nice, plan to bring a picnic lunch or snack if you want to stay and have after our hike.

Be sure to bring plenty of water.

The park address is not listed on any GPS system. If you attempt to use this method it will miss direct you. Using the "Location" link above will take you to the intersection of Pea Ridge Road & W.H. Jones Road in New Hill, NC to get in the vicinity of the park entrance. Turn onto W. H. Jones Rd. & continue .1 miles to the park entrance. After passing the entrance-fee station (no fee during the winter months), turn to the right to reach the parking area near the trailhead.

It will take me between 45 min-1 hr to get there. A little too far to drive. Looks like a good one though. Have fun!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
