Capital Area Greenway Bike Ride

We will bicycle on the Capital Area Greenway at a moderate pace (10 mph avg.) for up to 3+ hours. From our meetup point, we will optionally cycle three out and back rides on the northern sections of the greenway.  First to the eastern end of the Crabtree Creek portion (Milburnier Rd. - 18 miles). Then optionally, to the western end of the greenway (Oak Park - 4 miles), and then to Shelley Lake & beyond - 10 miles.  Pick the distance you wish to ride ... ride one, two, or all three routes. That's around 32 miles if you ride all three.   Note: the event leader will probably not do the Shelley Lake portion. Meet in the gravel parking lot located behind the McDonald's on Blue Ridge Rd. near the Crabtree Valley Mall. The gravel parking lot is accessible via Crabtree Valley Ave. Cycling helmets are recommended for this ride. This ride will be a moderately paced no drop ride. We will be stopping for water/snack breaks and slower riders as needed. This ride is best suited to hybrid/leisure bikes, but any bike will do. You can view the Capital Area Greenway Map for information about Raleigh's extensive greenway system.

Remember to bring fluids to stay hydrated during the ride.

A contract number will be sent to members who RSVP for this ride.

Thanks, you all, for putting up with this novice bike rider. My left elbow and knee sting a bit but I will hopefully do better on my next ride. Thanks for all who helped me!!! Thanks, Ann, for organizing.
