Bearfort Mountain /Snowshoe 4.5 miles

  • Mileage: 4.5 Microspikes are a must, depending on snowstorm on Thursday, Snowshoes maybe necessary. Poles can be helpful


    - Moderate to challenging. Rugged, rocky, with some decent scrambling areas. The initial part of the trail up is steep, multiple elevation changes..

    Overview

    This loop hike traverses the Bearfort Ridge, with its unusual puddingstone conglomerate rock and pitch pines growing out of bedrock, passes through a rhododendron tunnel, and comes out on the shore of Surprise Lake.
