Meetup Description: Schedule for Saturday 3/14/09

8:30am-9:00am meet at my place and set up carpools and get to know each other
10:30 am arrive at Blue Waters Kayaking ( and get our equipment
11:00 am set out on the water and hug the shore and work our way north through the eel grass beds. This will be a pretty mellow paddle- don't have to worry about strong currents or waves. In the afternoon we may get some wind beyond that it will be easy. We will take our time so we can see all the things along the way, take pictures and share stories of others places to check out. I think we will paddle about 4 miles total (maybe more- lets see how everyone is feeling) and head back for late lunch. As for food we have lots of choices (read below) and what to do after also a bunch of choices, so plan on making a day of it.
Kayaking in Tomales Bay. Lets try and make it there by 10:30 am at Blue Waters Kayaking 12938 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. [masked])-near the Golden Hinde Inn) This is another great place to do kayaking. This is a sheltered bay/estuary with a mellow current. You might see some seals pass by, lots of shorebirds, the oyster farms and the great rolling hills in the distance. Once we are done with paddling there are some great places near by to get food (especially BBQ oysters!!!), wine tasting, cheese tasting or take in the views at the Lighthouse (just got to walk down 308 steps!!!). Kayak & equipment rental $50 for 4 hours, food is also close by (oysters are next door) and more restaurants in Point Reyes Station- a nice little town to walk through. Wine tasting is also near by .

Hope to see you there,
