I got a late start, so driving to La Conner now from Camano Island. I'm 6'6", with a huge white mountain bike, and I'll be biking slowly. Hope to run into some of you on the course or after. [masked]

Yeah I can honestly say this meet was the the most fun I've had ever!

I am glad you were able to meet up. My cell phone died early on, so I'm sorry for not calling back if the missed call was one of you. Definitely a nice day, though that wind was a bit harsh. A few watering holes along the way helped ease the pain ;-)

Is there anyone still going? I will be heading out to Ashway but if there's no response I'm heading straight over there

Its going to be wet and cold tomorrow. I'd be happy to do it when warm and nice though.

    April 19, 2013

  • Donna

I've decided not to go. Not feeling up to the cold and rain after a long week at work, and a full day out of town on Sunday. Have fun! I'm up for going there when it's sunny and warmer.

Kim, you emailed me about meeting up. I've tried calling you, but number you gave me, not working. Currently on mercer island, Fri night. Driving up to la Conner, early Saturday a.m. Meet you all at school, 9.30 or so. Cyndy

Hello, anyone coming from West Seattle that I could find a ride with please?

    February 26, 2013

    • Donna

Kelly, I live in West Seattle and could give you a ride. I just bought a used bike rack and it holds two bikes. Let me know if you want me to pick you up, or if you want to come over here, by Lincoln Park.

      April 18, 2013

    • Kelly

Hi Donna, How cool that you too live in WS and that you have a bike rack. I won't be able to go this weekend and I've changed my RSVP but could you email me please at [masked]?

    Enjoy!

I don't like to ride in rain.

    April 18, 2013

  • cyndy

Donna, no worries. I live in LC, currently boarding a flight back to WA. You can do an easy 5 mile loop, enjoy shopping, or meal/etc. I may do the same.

    April 17, 2013

    • Donna

Cyndy, thanks for letting me know there's an easy 5 mile loop. I might be up for a little more than 5 miles if it's flat and sunny. But a meal and shopping in LC would be nice too. I hope you decide to join us since you know the area.

      April 18, 2013

    • Donna

Do I need to pay the fee regardless of the length we ride? I know it's for a good cause, and we'll have access to snacks, drinks, and, I assume, toilets along the way if we pay and are part of the official ride. But I don't know enough about this -- is the 5 mile loop one of the route options for the fundraiser Tulip Ride?

      April 18, 2013

  • Amanda

Hi Donna and Cyndy, I'd like tojoin you on the easy five mile loop. I was worried about doing 40 miles too! Even though its flat, it's a LONG way!

    April 17, 2013

    • Donna

Great - I'm glad I'm not the only one who is not up for 40 miles and wants to take it easy on Saturday. We'll figure out how to connect at the Park and Ride or when we get up there. My cell is[masked]

Will be going straight to start point and am not able to take others in my car -- will be staying in the area afterwards. See you all there!

    April 18, 2013

  • Donna

Hey everyone -- Is anyone in the group a slow rider? Also, is anyone possibly interested in doing half the ride if the going gets tough? Then maybe hang out some place for drinks and conversation, or a walk while waiting for the others to finish the ride?

I rarely ride my bike and, seriously, the longest ride I've ever done was 20 miles, when I was 21 yrs old! I'm more than double that age now, with a bad knee. I am having my bike tuned up this week and am buying padded riding pants. That might help a bit. I really want to try the ride which should be beautiful, with the flowers and flat ground. But I don't want to push myself to injury, exhaustion, or to where I'm not having any fun. It would be good to know if someone else has a similar concern and who may want to take it easy.

My other option is snowshoeing at Artist Point, if there's still room. That's my favorite place in the state, and snowshoeing would be a little easier (?). Donna

Hi Guys, I"d like to join as well. I was having second thoughts as 40 miles seemed a little daunting.

      April 18, 2013

    • Donna

Hi Kim, Cyndy, Amanda, and Deepa -- this sounds like a plan. I think 40 miles is over the top for those who haven't been conditioned for riding.

I haven't registered by was going to do that tonight, before the price goes up. If we pay, then we get to have a nice map of the area and get free snacks, water, and I assume toilets along the way. If we don't pay, we won't get the arm bands or whatever. Kim, I have to get run an errand and will be back around 9:30 or so. Let me know if that's too late to call. Otherwise, I can call tomorrow during the day so we can talk about this. [masked]

It's suppose to be chilly and some rain. All the more reason for doing a shorter route.

Others are welcome to join us.

Plan on arriving a little bit early and working out carpools in the parking lot. I will not be able to attend this years ride and will wish you all a great time from Malaysia where I will be working.

    April 15, 2013

    • Kim

What? You are the organizer but you are not coming? By the way, which part of Malaysia? That is my hometown...

May be able to join you all, for the ride. I live in LC, so for sure want to meet you all! Returning from a Health conference Friday. Cyndy

I only have road bike, does that work? Or it would be too bumpy?

    March 31, 2013

    • Saul_K

Kim, the roads are paved, a road bike will work the best ;-)

      April 1, 2013

  • wadood

Hey saul if i dont want to ride a bike can i still come.. May be i can follow the bikers help out as needed..

    March 17, 2013

    • Saul_K

Wadood, I'm assuming that you are thinking of driving the course, walking or jogging it would take forever, driving it would make you a hazard for the other riders, cars can't keep up with the bikes in several sections of the course, too much traffic trying to turn off the roads to look at flowers, so then you'd have to drive fast to make up for the delay, not a good idea. Bring a bike and ride it. The route is pretty flat and easy.

Yes the valley is nice and flat. Hopefully it wont rain!

    March 17, 2013

  • Donna

This will be fairly flat riding, I assume. I can manage this one. I have my own bike but will need for a vehicle to haul it.
