Come explore your Earth Gym!! Similar to the concept of kids having play dates with friends, we are creating a free citywide play date for people of ALL ages in Seattle. The idea is to get people outside moving, playing, interacting with and exploring our natural Earth Gym (our parks, trees, stones, lakes, fields, sticks/staffs) - which is really everywhere. Too many people put off exercising because it's boring and/or is just a time to "zone-out" at the gym. Let's show another way to get in shape, have a whole lot of FUN and be outside in our natural environment!
Come join in on the playful activities and/or create your own. Bring your friends. The more people we have moving, playing, training in our natural park environment, the more attention we'll attract from the public. As we train and play, we'll be inviting the public to join in too.
I'll be hosting staff dancing, natural running, stone-toning, tree-weaving with ropes, tree climbing, puddle jumping and outdoor boogie-ing. You can come to join in or start your own creative activity. We'll be set up by the Bathhouse Theater at Green Lake and the more outdoor movement enthusiasts/adventurists who join in, we'll spread east towards the wading pool across from World Wraps. Saul will be leading tarp and tree climbing relay races and Seattle Parkour will also be there. The last half hour (11:30 - 12 noon) will be an outdoor dance!
If you have them, please bring extra staffs and stones to use as we've got lots of people coming :)
The 1st play date will be Saturday, Dec 18 from 10 - 12 noon. Please RSVP if you plan to participate and let me know if you're going to lead an activity.
This event also ties in with our nation's larger public health movement, "Let's Move" to end obesity. The more people play, and especially outside, the happier, vital, strong and exuberant they'll be!
As my friend Frank says, "Play as if your life depends on it, because it DOES!"
Please spread the word and feel free to cross post on other meetups! This is also posted on Facebook
and on the Seattle Outdoor Adventurers Meetup group.
