Trail Description: This steep, out-and-back trail climbs up the Wild Basin, offering views of the St. Vrain drainage to the east, Mt Copeland to the west. Sandbeach Lake is aptly named for its wide, sandy shoreline. Unlike most lakes in the Wild Basin Area that reside in narrow alpine valleys, Sandbeach Lake is located on a broad flat free of confining valley walls. Its open perimeter promotes exploration, and gives the area a uniquely spacious feel. Thanks Teri and Neal for organizing. It was a lovely day to be hiking, and a lovely hike, even though I wasn't feeling my best.

No problem... hope all is ok, and thanks for calling us to let us know you would not be attending.

I apologize for the last minute cancellation. I arrived in Boulder this past Weds. After a number of shorter hikes I realized that I am not acclimated enough for this hike. See you in August. Be well.

Since we need to squeeze into as few cars as possible, maybe I should drive...more room in my car?

One last thing... there are limited parking spots at the trail head, so we'll need to leave at 7:35 from the Stone Cup (don't be late!), and we'll need to squeeze into as few cars as possible.

I'm copying a comment from Glenn's hike, as it applies here as well: "This is NOT a beginner hike. If you are not experienced enough to understand how hard the distance and elevation might be, you should not attend this hike."

Hi, the past two times we've done this hike, the total time (including stops and time eating lunch and exploring at the lake) was ~6 hours. Therefore, with time traveling to/from the trail head, don't expect to get back to Lyons until 4pm or 5pm.

A group that did this hike earlier in the week reported that the trail was snow-free. So no need to bring your micro-spikes.

Teri and Neal I will meet you at the trail head at 8:30.

Hey, Jill and I can't get to the Stone Cup until 8am, I have a meeting at 5-7 am Sunday. Hope we can catch up with you.

Hey Jack -- How about meeting us at the trail head? The early start is for parking. We could wait for you there after we are parked.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
