Swing Dance at the Avalon...someone's gotta do it

Bill has graciously agreed to host the monthly swing dance at the Avalon this Saturday now that Ron is MIA. We will try and get various people to host so if you're interested, let me know (I can't make it at 7, but may try and traipse over later).

Bill has promised to put up balloons, have some signs on the tables, etc., but it may be hard to find the group once the lesson starts at 7, so keep that in mind. Of course if Bill wants to indicate what he's going to wear in a comment down below, that might make it easier too (Bill - ya got anything distinctive you're willing to wear on Saturday?).

I assume we can still get the $12 entrance fee by saying we're with the Grey Wolves - certainly worth a try (rather than the full $15 price).

7pm: Lesson

8pm: Dance starts with live band

Tables nicely marked and friendly people at them. Renewed some very enjoyable acquaintances from the past. Band leader very open to requests-"Begin the Beguine", snacks plentiful and varied.

What does it take to have "byob" and cooler?

Also a beautiful, moonlit, summer evening ride back to Westminster accompanied by pleasant memories.

At least for the first part of the dance I will wear a Hawaiian shirt. What makes this shirt subtly different than other Hawaiian shirts is that it has drawings of the Hawaiian islands on the shirt as well as the names (one of the names is misspelled so I'm told). So look for a dark blue shirt with named Hawaiian islands. I might even be wearing the same deer-in-the-headlight look that is in my profile pic.

You should verify there is a swing dance this month.... I know that last month Jim did not have one scheduled for Aug however I did check out at the AVD site, http://www.villageartscoalition.org/danceList.php?record=65&event=n271#n271, and there is a special swing listed but someone may want to email Jim just to verify that is correct as I stated it was not showing a dance for Aug last month.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
