Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I spend hours researching hikes and rely on various sources, but I can't vouch for their accuracy. I am not a professional guide, you are responsible for yourself. Glen thanks

    For the Boulder area polices
Every area area has different polices

Rule is don’t show up if you’re not on the go list
    My apologies to all
After leading 250+ hikes I have gotten very tired of people
    I don’t know posting comments
    or just showing up
I really felt bad about my comment
I need to be more polite

My rule is and has been for a while is if I don’t know you I won’t respond
    to your email
but when it could be a major fine – I feel I must respond

go on a general attendance hike so I can meet you
not a very hard snowshoe like I did today ( I only add in people I know)
we were all ( very strong hikers ) whooped after today’s snowshoe

    Thank you all

The hikes in the Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, which includes the Shanahan Area, are limited to 24 people unless a special use permit is acquired. So, if any one is on a waiting list when 24 have already signed up, the wait list person should not join on the group hike. Unfortunately, often there are several no shows from the group who said yes. Even with the almost certainty of no shows, according to the Boulder regulations, we cannot accept more than 24 yes rsvp's. So 1) do not sign up unless you will show up; 2) change to no early if you change your mind and 3) do not show up as an official part of the group unless you are a yes rsvp. In addition to complying to the Boulder regulations, the hike leader may impose other selection criteria on participants.
