Veterans Memorial Pier (map)
Its becoming that time of year again when the waters off the east coast begin to glow. If you have not heard or seen Florida's awesome light show known as the "living lights" this is your chance for an incredible introduction. To give you an idea just imagine every thing and anything that moves in the water glows bright greenish yellow. Yes glowing dolphins, mullet, sting rays, and the occasional manatee.
So we will meet at 7pm just past the vetrans memorial pier on the left. Make sure to bring lots of bug spray, refreshments, a headlamp, and at least two glow sticks per kayak. Plan on being on the water for at least two hours may be three.
Folks needing a kayak can rent one by calling [masked] ($30. for members)
A carpool will leave from downtown (fashion square mall) around 6pm. The van holds ten people comfortably. Everyone is expected to chip in for gas.
I and few seakayakers will be meeting @ 4:30 and launching between before 5pm from Veterans Memorial Pier for an extended paddle. This may become an official meetup - If you would like to join in contact me - solid skills and safety equipment requirements
How was the trip? I see 30 paddlers but no pics or comments.
I missed it but would like to check it out real soon.
I and 2 others had a good extended paddle - We launched early and the sun set while on the water. Patrick & Jim encountered a dolphin before I launched and we found several patches of bio and strong bio activity about 1/2 mile from the launch/exit point.
We hoped to meet the main group, but missed the emails - We did run into Terri - a new group member from Merritt Island

Are there any Sea Kayakers out there that up to the challenge of an extended paddle leaving from the same location a couple of hours earlier for maybe 5hr total paddle, covering about 16 miles? 14'+ boats w/ spray skirts and paddlers who can perform a solo re-entry if needed + other safety requirements
