Mount Kaukau, on the western side of Wellington harbor, offers spectacular views of the city, harbor and the Rimutaka and Tararua Ranges from the summit. On a clear day you can see all the way out to the South Island and the Tasman Sea! As well as the spectacular views the walkway has picnic sites and unused tunnels.
What we’ll be doing: Starting at the north (Truscott Avenue entrance) we will head up along following some of the northern walkway to get to the summit and loop back to the Truscott Avenue entrance.
Time: 1.5 – 2.5 hours.
Difficulty: 5/10 - the walk is steep in parts and the pace is brisk. A good level of fitness is required.

What to bring: Warm clothing, a windbreaker, sturdy footwear and enough to drink and eat.
How to get there: We will begin and end the walk at the Truscott Avenue entrance where there is a car park. The entrance is also a 15min walk from Johnsonville Station.
Hi all, great weather forecast for tomorrow, might be a bit breezey up the top tho. If you're running late please let me know, 021890031.
