Disc Golf - like the name suggests is like Golf but with a disc. Also known as Frisbee Golf or if you're in Canada, Frolf!! Take a stroll in the leafy surrounds of Harcourt Park for a couple of hours with a Disc Golf 'pro' who is kindly donating his time and sports equipment to give us a chance to try out this fun sport.
We'll hit the purpose built (currently only one of it's kind in the Wellington region) course in group of around 6 people. We'll have expert tuition on hand all the way along the course.
If there is enough interest we'll arrange for more experts to show us how it's done. So by all means join the waitlist!
This is a fun and addictive sport.
Cost: Koha/small donation ($1-$5) Sky and Friends are kindly offering their time, expertise and use of discs. The koha is to cover wear and tear on the discs. As it's pretty certain we'll be hitting trees! Bring this in cash on the day.
Difficulty: 1/5 (reasonable level of fitness required, for more info see FAQ)
Duration: 2-3 hrs of walking with LOTS of stopping - think actual Golf.
Bring: water, sun protection and koha (that's a small donation) to cover equipment wear & tear, a small towel to wipe wet disc is handy. Bring some lunch if you'd like to have a picnic lunch before heading home.
How to get there:
Follow the SH2 North from Wellington to Upper Hutt. Turn left into Akatarawa Rd not far past the Rimutaka Caltex. The entrance to Harcourt Park is about 500m on the left.
You can the 83 or 91 bus to Lower Hutt then hop the 110 to Akatarawa Rd. Or take the train to Upper Hutt and jump on the 110 bus to Akatarawa Rd.
This meet-up will be cancelled if it's raining or really windy. Will cancel the night before or on the morning of.
