Laserforce Round Robin Team Challenge (Oxfam Fundraiser)


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is an OXFAM TRAILWALKER FUNDRAISER.

On the 6th of April 2013 sixteen brave (or crazy?) AW-ers will start walking at 7am in the morning and keep walking till they reach the 100k. It's been called the World's Greatest Team Challenge. Each year, teams of four come together to complete a 100km walk around Taupo, raising money for Oxfam in the process. The goals for each team is to raise $2,000 and they need your help.

More fun than you can shoot a laser at! This challenge will see three teams playing a round robin tournament against others where the two top teams after the round robin will compete for the ultimate bragging rights of being 'AW Lasergame Team Champions'.

Lasergame, for those who haven't done it before, is two teams chasing each other around inside a maze, each team member wearing an electronic vest and carrying a ray gun.  The purpose of the game is to score as many points for your team as possible by shooting the opposing team members, plus a number of targets that are located in the maze.

The scores are all recorded electronically, and you can see the team and individual scores after each game - you get a rest in between each game...and boy you need that rest! If you missed out on your daily gym workout on the day, this will make up for it!

Limited to 36 participants,  get your RSVP in early if you are keen. At your arrival you will pay $20 to Kheshini, She will then pay your $10 to the Lazerforce staff, and the other $10 will be donated to each of the four OXFAM teams.

2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw - if teams are on even points at the end of their three games,  cumulative points scored in games played will dictate which team proceed to the grand finale.

Competition

Round 1: team A vs team B - 6.00pm start

Round 2: team B vs team C - 6.15pm start

Round 3: team A vs team C - 6.30pm start

Round 4: team B vs team A - 6.45pm start

Round 5: team B vs team C - 7.00pm start

Round 6: team A vs team C - 7.15pm start

All start times are indicative!!

Those who came along on a regular basis always end up having a fun evening; energetic, challenging, lots of laughs, and just a wee bit competitive between the two teams! :)

Oh yeah, the Southern Cross pub is only 5 minutes walk away, and most people were glad to get in a cold beer after the last event!

Cost: Because this is a fundraiser, it will cost $20 CASH! PLEASE BRING CASH! $10 for the 4 laser force games, $10 dollars to be split between the two OXFAM teams!

Bring: comfortable clothes (can get warm inside the maze)

Time: 2 hrs

How to get there: Laserforce is located at 133 Tory Street. Walk/drive up to the back of the big car park at the Warehouse (it's behind the Warehouse).
