Rolling in the Deep Sea Kayak Rolling Course

Our next challenge  - Roll your Kayak

A follow on from the Basics Course, this one is designed to teach you more safety skills and the technique to be able to right your sea kayak with the aid of a paddle.

Our experienced instructors from Fergs will take you through the skills required as this is all about technique; not brute force.

$100 instructors fee for two nights tuition.

$ 5.90 per lesson pool fee payable to Freyburg Pool - payable on the night.

(minimum 3 attendees or the lesson will not go ahead)

Cash on the night or you can pay at Fergs prior to your first lesson.

What's included: Two- One hour lessons provided by Fergs instructors.

Includes Kayak hire, spray skirt and chance to get wet over and over again.

This will run over two nights Monday and Wednesday and it is recommended you attend both sessions the same week.

Where we meet: Inside Freyburg Pool, Wellington.

When: Please arrive early you must be ready to start by 8pm

Some people manage to do this the first night, others (like me) may take longer.

What to wear: YOU ARE GOING TO GET WET.  This course involves learning how to right yourself from an upside down under water position -- so it involves practice! So, wear togs and merino or polyprop over the top - don't wear long pants, denim and no cotton t-shirts. Cotton is not your friend in a kayak — it does not dry well and dissipates heat quickly. The water temps in the pool are warmer but you will be in the water up to 1 hour so if you have a wetsuit (farmer jane/farmer john), that would be ideal. Neoprene paddling shoes or dive booties are great too.

This Meetup is held in a covered and hated swimming pool and is not weather dependent.

Whilst every possible assistance will be offered, Adventure Wellington Trust, the Trustees, Event Organisers/hosts and members cannot be held responsible for any accident, injuries or losses sustained leading up to, during, or after an event.

If you no show or cancel after 7pm the Friday before this event you will have a 'no show' recorded against your name. No shows can lead to you having to leave the group. Please read our Group Rules
