This event will be held on the first windless evening we can find and a confirmation email will be sent to all those listed as going once this date is set.
To celebrate the introduction of daylight saving we thought we would take full advantage of it and see Wellington by night from a Kayak.
Join us for a paddle to Shelly Bay beach where we will stop for a bar-b-q while we wait for the sun to set over Mt Vic. and the lights to come on.
There will be all the usual Bar-b fare provided (bread, patties, tomato sauce) which will be carefully chard perfection with the assistance of our witty Fergs hosts.
Once the lights start to come on we will take a leisurely paddle back along the shoreline past the central city to finish at Queens wharf.
You do not need to have completed a Kayaking Basics Event to join this meet up.
Cost: $71.50 per person (payable on the night at Fergs)
incl kayak hire, paddle, spray skirt, a perfectly carbon coated pattie inside a bun & maybe a chip or two
Some witty banter from the Ferg's instructors, lights and safety gear.
Duration: 3 hours .
Where we meet: Inside Fergs Kayaks
Maximum number for this event is 18
Because we are a safety conscious bunch this event is alcohol free, should you wish to drink transport from Shelly Bay can be arranged but you will miss the best bit of the paddling experience.
What to wear: usual drill - no denim, no cotton t-shirts, no long pants. It should be warm, toasty warm, until the sun goes down so shorts will be fine on the way out but recommend you bring some warmer gear for the way back & after. A wind/water proof jacket might be a good idea as well as a head lamp if you have one. While unlikely, it's possible to end up immersed, so bring some dry stuff to put on afterwards.
It is also recommended you bring water to drink on the paddle.
For safety reasons this event is weather/wind dependant. We reserve the right to postpone this event should the weather conditions on the chosen date be deemed no suitable by Fergs.
Whilst every possible assistance will be offered, Adventure Wellington Trust, the Trustees, Event Organisers/hosts and members cannot be held responsible for any accident, injuries or losses sustained leading up to, during, or after an event.
