Ash Walkers idea:

"Choose a scenic local 5k route, grab some friends or do it alone, and run 5k at exactly 4pm Greenwich Mean Time on the 27th of November 2012.
Take video and still pictures while running to later upload

Last year there were more than 30 participants from no less than 8 different countries. Let’s see if we can get 100+ people from 20+ different countries and at least 30+ different cities/towns......"

Even though we're in NZ, and the idea started in NZ, Ash chose 4pm GMT, because well, Greenwich is the centre of the world! The downside is that makes the event tale place at 5am on the 28th Nov.

Two things, first can a newbie attend? Second how fit is one required to be for this?

    November 22

    • Ash

This is open to anyone and everyone Gareth.
And there will be a variety of fitness levels, so you'll be fine :)
We can just make the fitter ones run further so we all end up at the top of Mt Vic for the sunrise photo/video at the same time.

You are all awesome. Keen to make the most of every day -
What a way to start that day: fitness, beautiful sunrise, company of friends and a yummy breakfast before most people have gotten out of bed!

Rough plan will see us run along the waterfront, up Mt Vic to watch the sunrise (about 5.45AM) and get some pics/video, then back down to somewhere for breakfast (any suggestions?). Should be back down by around 6.30-6.45AM.

    :-)

Does anyone know the best place to park? I'm coming from Lower Hutt and don't really know the best 5am parking spots lol

    November 13

    • Irene Frizzarin

might suggest Oriental Bay or even New World at that hour :P

      November 19

    • Anna Harnden-Taylor

Yep reckon you'd be fine along the waterfront or oriental parade at 5am (:
