A work-out at night on the street, boot-camp style. That means no gym, no air conditioning and no carpet – only people pushing themselves alongside each other in the name of fitness. We will be training functional, adaptive, real-world fitness using the environment as our training challenges. This class is designed to be interesting and different from the standard exercise class, expect the unexpected. Expect to sweat, even if it's raining, and to be sore the next day, or the next few. This is for those who want a work-out and is suitable for all levels of fitness.
Some examples of what might happen:
# Using each other as weights
# Crawling round grimy car parks :p
# Throwing rocks and rolling boulders
# Frolicking in the waves at the beach
# Conditioning underwater (when it gets warmer and warning will be supplied)
# Using slacklines in every way apart from slacklining
# Using gymnastic rings in weird ways
Rules:
- Push yourself. Challenge yourself.
- No competition. Support each other, don't compete against each other.
- Please report any injury's that you have to the instructor 'Before' the class.
For an example see here -- http://blane-parkour.blogspot.co.nz/2006/11/hell-night.html. While extremely difficult and probably more than we’ll be doing, that post is the original “Hell Night” training from the parkour community in the UK.
Difficulty:
No matter what your fitness level - this will challenge you.
Don't be put off by the difficulty, be prepared to stretch your limits.
Cost: $10 (cash)
What to wear: A t-shirt, Shorts (preferably ones you don't mind getting wet as we may be dipping into the sea depending on how keen you are :P), sneakers or running shoes. Also good to have a warm layer to put on when you stop moving. Bring a water bottle.
Where: In the middle of the park by the ship mast.
Thanks, it was hell. Blisters in my hands and hard to keep up with the boys.. but fun!
