New members -- this one is for you! If you've joined recently, or haven't done this event yet, you can RSVP to this brisk-paced late evening stroll up Mount Vic and meet some other new faces to Adventure Wellington. Preference will be given to those that have not been on this walk before but is open to all. And with the weather forecast suggesting a nice evening for Tuesday, come and join me for the first newbies walk for 2013.
The Plan: We start in front of the Embassy Theatre on Kent Terrace, and walk up Majoribanks Street, up some fairly steep slopes, before reaching the summit of the Mount Victoria Lookout. Once at the top we will have time to take in the terrific 360 degree views that are on offer. After spending some time at the top, we will then head down the last part of the Southern Walkway, along Oriental Parade, and then stop off at Beach Babylon for a quick, light refreshment for those that are keen, before parting our ways.
Although the tracks are steep, and that this walk will be done at a fairly brisk pace, there will be lots of stops to admire the views. The walk will take about one and a half hours.
After the walk, those who are interested can come for a customary AW after-event drink, this time at Beach Babylon on Oriental Parade
Difficulty: 3/5
Distance: 7 km
Time: 2 hours (including 15 minutes at the summit)
What to bring: a torch (just incase it is a little bit dark on the way down), sturdy shoes, a camera, a good sense of humor, fun attitude, and maybe a walking stick for traversing the steep hills.
How to get there: Frequently served by buses (catch a bus going to Courtenay Place) and we will end close to where we started (at the waterfront at Oriental Parade).
Important information: A 'no show' rule applies to all AW events, inclusive of this one. Therefore, if you cancel your RSVP after 7pm on the evening before the walk, or do not turn up for the event, you will receive notification of your non-attendance. Please be aware of this. Sorry.

Great group of people, well paved walk and Eugene was a fantastic host who made us newbies feel very welcome.

hey guys, hope one of you picks this up in time, we have just missed our bus into town and the next one wasn't until 7.02 so we're not going to make it. Really gutted as we've both been looking forward to meeting people and to the walk. We could walk straight up to mount vic from our house in Newtown and meet you there if anyone gets this message but not sure which lookout you are going to? Julie and Danny

Hi everybody, ok, we're probably not going to get the greatest sunset tonight, but lets all meet inside the foyer area of the Embassy theatre for 6.55pm, to make a prompt start at 7.00pm. There are not too many places open for a drink afterwards, but I'll see if I can source something out where we could go for a coffee and cake afterwards. It could be quite windy on top as well, so bring something warm. See you all soon.
