Sea kayaking skills level 2: Kick-Ass Kayaking @ Fergs

Step up your training for Cook Strait or just get some more experiance Kayaking in any conditions by joining us for 2 hour hard out paddle.

This is a serious any weather event (OK we will stay home if it is blowing 30kts because that would just be dangerous) but anything less and it's on.

We will leave Fergs 6.pm, so please be there ready the go before 6.

The goal is from Fergs to Scorching Bay and back, or anywhere safe inbetween depending on weather conditions.

This is an advanced event in a single kayak. It is compulsory to have completed the sea kayaking refresher/basic skills to join this event.

Cost: $27.00

What's included: 2 hours hard out on the water from Ferg's across Evans Bay to Hallwell Light (the checkered light house) to Scorching Bay and back. No Coffee Stop. We aim to be back by 8pm.

Your sea kayak (this could be a double depending on conditions), paddle, buoyancy aid and spray skirt.

RSVP: RSVP with payment to be made at Fergs prior to leaving

Where we meet: Inside Fergs Kayaks. You are expected to get yourself and your kayak set up and be on the pontoon ready to leave at 6 p.m. (and put it away again when we get back)

What to wear: It is highly likely YOU ARE GOING TO GET WET. Wear merino /polyprop /thermals 2-3 layers on top and up to two layers of leggings the same on bottom plus a a water proof jacket. Hats Gloves, Neoprene paddling shoes or dive booties. The water temps getting warmer but the wind is still cold so rug up.
