Sunday Sailing: Wellington Harbour!

Come and cruise Wellington harbour with Adventure Wellington! No experience needed. Only seven spots, so be quick!

Cost: Incredible negotiated AW rate of just $27!

This is all inclusive -- an instructor, wet weather gear, life jackets -- and a boat!

What we're doing:
We meet at 4:45 pm on Sunday evening at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club Sailing Academy, where we'll board an MRX yacht (look for the steps beside Freyberg Pool down to the marina). Then our skipper will take us out in the harbour where we'll get a feel for sailing!

Instruction:
At all times the yachts will have onboard instructors in the employment of the Academy who have extensive sailing experience. The cost of the instruction is included in the casual sail rates.

What to bring:
Warm clothing
. The Sailing Academy will provide everyone with a set of wet weather gear for the session. The gear will keep most of the water and wind out but is not insulated so please ensure people wear/bring loose fit- ting polypropylene, fleecy type, casual (ie warm) clothing including hat and gloves, and soft soled closed toe footwear. Feet may get wet so a change of shoes is a good idea. Showers are available in the Yacht Club building if required.

How long:
This adventure will take about two hours -- including 1 1/2 hours on the water.

Sea sickness: Some people are subject to sickness - take seasick tablets the night before and one again prior to the trip. The best ones are Pihia Bombers available by phoning 09 402 7034.

You must follow this link to enrol, pay, and secure your spot.

Subject to cancellation: This trip is subject to enough sign ups (must be full to go ahead) and weather conditions and may be postponed to the following Tuesday. If there is only a light drizzle, the event will still go ahead. Wet weather gear is provided.

Great experience for a novice sailor, really enjoyed it. I thought the safety instruction was good, not too anal, nice touches of humour, but safety message loud and clear. Loved it.

Hi Rosie, My friend Shayna and I can't make it this Sunday, can we hold up until next time? Thanks in advance.

Not sure that you'll get a reply in time from Rosie. I'd suggest giving the Ocean Sports Centre a call and asking them to transfer your payment to next Sunday's sail (I've done this in the past - no issue), and also booking your places on the AW sail for next Sunday now while there are spots. For this Sunday, change your RSVP to No and then someone from the waitlist will be able to attend which will make them happy :)

Hi Ly, Just to confirm that you aren't able to come this weekend? Can you please change your RSVP to 'not going' so we can free up the spots for other people. Let me know if you got hold of the Ocean Sports Centre - if not, I can organise the transfer of payment to next week. Ta

Hi, I just paid for one of the 2 slots I booked but can't get back in to the booking system to pay for the second as it states the event is full. Any advice? I'm happy to bring payment for the 2nd spot on the day.

Hi Rosie, I booked in a week ago but have only just gone to try and pay. The site won't let me as the event is now full. Is it ok if I pay you on the day?
    See you on Sunday

Hi Rosie, would there be photo opportunities on board. ?

    March 21

    • lamorna

Yes, people bring their cameras, iphones etc and take photos. There is the risk of getting wet though so if it's soemthing you're worried about, you might want to make sure you bring it in a waterproof bag.
