IMPORTANT UPDATE: THE PARKING LOTS ARE NOT FREE TO PARK IN. MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PARKED IN THE LOTS WHEN COMING TO THE MEET UP WERE FINE, BUT ONE PERSON GOT A TICKET SO THE POSSIBILITY DOES EXIST. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IT SAFE, VISITOR PARKING IS AVAILABLE IN THE PARKING GARAGES FOR $3/HOUR. THE SHENANDOAH PARKING DECK IS THE CLOSEST. TO FIND US FROM THERE WALK PAST THE SHUTTLE STOP, CROSS THE STREET, AND CONTINUE STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE TWO BUILDINGS. KEEP STRAIGHT FOLLOWING THE SIDEWALK AND WE'LL BE OUTSIDE THE FIRST BUILDING TO THE LEFT.
WE WILL CONTINUE TO MEET OUTSIDE THE AVT BUILDING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. IF THE WEATHER IS BAD, PLEASE WATCH YOUR PHONE FOR A TEXT MESSAGE WITH A NEW LOCATION. DUE TO THE RE-PURPOSING OF THE ART & VISUAL TECHNOLOGY BUILDING, WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING A NEW INDOOR/OUTDOOR LOCATION FOR THIS MEETUP. ALL MEMBERS WILL BE EMAILED WHEN WE HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME. IN ADDITION, WE ARE ASKING ALL ATTENDEES TO TAKE EXTRA CARE TO MAKE SURE WE ARE NOT BLOCKING WALKWAYS AND ENTRANCES.
Come one and all, jugglers, hoopers and spinners of all kinds! We'll meet every Monday as long as scheduling permits, so if you can't make it this week, come another Monday. See you there!
Here are some very detailed directions: Get onto Braddock Road (VA-620), and take the Roanoke Rd entrance into GMU (it is across from University Mall and the Sunoco station). Lot K will be on your left, and it is free to park there in the evenings. Once you have parked, walk around the right side of Mason Pond, following Patriot Circle. The Patriot Center will be on your left, and the pond on your right. Veer right to stay on Patriot Circle, then veer left to cross Mattaponi River Ln and get onto the sidewalk. Walk up the hill and past Innovation Hall (on the left). The AVT Building will be on the right; it is a very modern-looking, concrete and steel building. The signs near it all say Art & Design Building, so look for those; however, I think the art students and faculty refer to it as the Art & Visual Technology Building, so keep that in mind if you stop someone and ask directions. You can see a picture of it here: http://soa.gmu.edu/pages/aboutavt/mapdirections.html Walk to the far side of the building and turn right. The main entrance is made of glass and is technically the second level of the building. We will be just outside the main entrance.
