The Alliance Francaise d’Indianapolis invites you to celebrate La Galette des Rois or King’s Cake Day, a beloved French tradition. It is celebrated all over France and is reminiscent of the biblical tradition of the 3 wise men’s journey bearing gifts after the birth of Jesus. Experience this custom and savor the delicious Galette, a puff pastry cake filled with a buttery smooth mix of almond and pastry cream. Left-over galettes will be available for purchase at the end of the event.
And while you wait to see who is crowned King or Queen of the day, seize the opportunity to explore and have fun with your artistic side: Ten West and The Paint Cellar will provide a 30 min painting class so you can take home your own representation of a French Galette on a 5×7 canvas. Children and adults: $10 per person.
Finally, if you are looking to swap your French books, be sure to participate in our "Foire aux livres" (Book Fair). We'll have a "bring one, pick one" policy: for every French book you bring, you will be able to pick one up and take it home.
