Umoja- Lets meet up and speak some Swahili

Habari zenu? I am glad that this Swahili meetup is about to happen. This is open to all levels of Swahili and also those with an interest in the language/East African culture. Once I know numbers I will book a table so we can kuongea Kiswahili pamoja (speak Swahili together). Let me know if you're able to make this day/place.

Mambo, I will be there but I will be late. I'm coming from kanisa (church), which finishes around 3.30-4. I will probably park up in Kings X to take a bus to Charing Cross so I'm hoping I will be there by the latest 5. I will bring some books- see you both soon. My number is[masked] 258. Tutaonana badaye.

Hi All, I'm glad there's some momentum on meeting up! Patrick, I think your Doodle Poll worked really well so I've done another one with some Sunday's and Tuesdays on it over the next two months. Feel free to fill it in and maybe we can get a couple of meet-ups in the diary: http://doodle.com/4zt68krhpctbt2qi

Hi Gemma. Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, I do! I'm going to be in Tanzania for the next month though, but would be keen to practice from March onwards. Hopefully I'll be a bit better at Swahili by the time I get back! Would be good to hear what you are doing in Tanzania too.

Hi all, It was really lovely meeting you all last night, was great hearing about everyone's different experiences with the language and Tanzania/Congo/Kenya. I'm really look forward to the next one and when I have some more info about the restaurant in Ilford I will schedule another meetup for around the same time next month (14thish of June). If Ilford falls through, I found a good East African (Ugandan) restaurant in Tottenham it serves ugali and possibly even Kili! www.jamborestaurantlondon.co.uk, always open to other suggestions. Those who couldn't make it this time, karibu sana next time! Wikendi njema

Hi All, Just to remind you all that the Swahili Meetup is tomorrow at 1830, I'm looking forward to seeing you all there. When you get to the restaurant you can either ask for the table under Keisha or for the Swahili meetup table. If you have any problems finding it give me a call on[masked] 258. Hopefully we all have a great first meeting regardless of our levels of Swahili.
    Kesho!

Hi Everyone, I am looking forward to seeing you all on Friday. I am booking a table for us tomorrow so if anyone hops on last minute please let me know (karibu sana). It should be a bag of fun and a great chance for people to use those Swahili skills that are so often swept under the carpet in London and have a good chat about the beauty that is East Africa. If anyone has any questions or can't find it on the day give me a call on[masked] 258. Usiku mwema!

    Hi,
I would prefer central london as I live south. I would be happy to organise something if people tell me more or less the location. How about May 17th at 6pm somewhere around Kings Cross? If I remember correctly the lucas arms has a nice upstairs room with tables. tk care, marta.

Great that so many people are up for this. Has anyone got suggestions of a good date, I am thinking either a Fri or Sat eve or possibly Sun afternoon? 17th, 18th or 19th May? Ilford is good for me, but I am wondering if the far location will put some people off but nyama choma na chai=good time. Let me know if Ilford is good for people? If not we can do something more central for the first time. Suggestions welcomed.

Jamani nimekumbuka sana kusema Kiswahili nitatimba haina kwere! Its not in central London but I hear there's a new nyama choma place opening in Ilford next month. When I know more Ill share with you all.
