DC/Baltimore Caribbean Carnival with the Urban Explorers and Mahogany Philly!

The Caribbean comes to Washington once a year with this spectacular annual carnival, attended by around half a million people. The parade, featuring more than 25 masquerade groups, kicks off the festivities on Saturday.

Note that this is a shared event with Mahogany Philly (meetup.com/mahoganyphilly)

"DC Caribbean Carnival is annual Caribbean style parade and festival designed to encourage cross-cultural programs within the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area community in the expansion of Caribbean culture, and to educate youths and adults in Caribbean arts, crafts and culture.

For more than 20 years, the parade has been a popular summer event featuring 30 participating groups representing the Caribbean, Latin America and the Diaspora in colorful costumes portraying different themes, dancing to the sound of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, African, Haitian, Latin and Steelband music." - http://dc.about.com/od/specialevents/a/DCCC.htm

Itinerary

IMPORTANT:  DC Carnival organizers have yet to release 2013 event details, thus our itinerary is necessarily tentative.

Saturday

7:30 a.m. - Meet at 30th St. Station

7:50 p.m. - Bus to Baltimore (3 hours approx.)

12:00 p.m. - Parade kickoff, food, concerts, arts and crafts

Party the night away!

Sunday

The festivities continue!

6:45 p.m. - Bus to Philadelphia

10:00 p.m. - Arrival

$170 per person, dual occupancy.

Important Notes

- Rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis.

- Please note that payments are non-refundable.

- You may indicate a roommate during initial payment.  Otherwise, you will be randomly assigned.

What's Included?

A lot!  Price includes:

- round trip transportation via bus

- overnight hotel stay (shared room)

- your Mahogany Philly top

Please note that this trip is available exclusively as a package.  Transportation, hotel, and top may not be purchased separately.

Participants should anticipate costs for event admission ($10 Sat/ $15 Sun), casual meals, and metro tickets.

We want to be in the heart of the action, and will be staying in the Baltimore Inner Harbor (Downtown) at the Royal Sonesta
