The Good and Bad of Agile Offshore Development
Companies today are attempting to lower costs and increase their staffing flexibility by taking some of their development activities overseas. Simultaneously, many of these same organizations are exploring agile development practices in an effort to increase quality and to improve project performance. This report explores the intersection of these two significant trends common in today?s software development organizations. We will show how our team built an effective agile offshore development capability, what we learned along the way, and what we would do differently next time around.
Managing Projects Successfully With Scrum (2 days, 8:30 - 5:00) Date TBA
1) Objective 1 - Provide a basic overview of Agile.
2) Agile Project Management With Scrum - Develop a thorough understanding of this lightweight project management framework, recognize its potential, identify its uses, and experience the the difference it makes through actual projects.
3) The Agile Enterprise - To understand how a company can be transformed once it starts using Agile, to see what a company looks like after it incorporates Agile methodologies, and to discover how to implement Agile within your organization.
4) PMBOK and Agile Project Management - To explore the correlation between the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and Scrum
We have found a great new sponsor and place to have our meetings. The Intercontinental Hotels Group will be providing space for our meetings going forward. IHG will also provide food for the January meeting.
The location is right off of Ashford Dunwoody in the Ravinia office complex. From I-285 E/W take the Ashford Dunwoody exit, and go north. Turn east onto Ravinia drive just north of the interstate. You will pass the Crown Plaza hotel on the left, take the next left at the Ravinia Club sign. The entrance to Building 3 will be on your right. Go straight past the Building 3 entrance and park in the garage directly ahead.
The building is secured so we will meet in the Building Three lobby and go upstairs as a group at 6:25 sharp - there is a set of couches between the security desk and the garden area just inside the main entrance. Please let me know if you will arrive after 6:25 so we can arrange to have someone meet you and bring you upstairs.
