Re: [questioningrel-83] Thoughts on "Recent thoughts from Doug"

Doug and All,

Friends I would never view any questioning of my belief structure or how I would classify myself as an attack or take offense to it. I appreciate any questions regarding my faith. I would most definately classify myself as Christian.

To answer the question of my purpose in the discussion is simple. I have not always believed as I do now. Once I was agnostic as well. I thought that God may exist but was beyond our ability to not only comprehend but also communicate with and was certainly not an active force in the enviroment around us.It is my quest to learn what the agnostic system of belief offers those who hold to this view point, especially since after examining myself during this time I found nothing of value in it for myself. It is my hope to better understand this viewpoint and at the same time share my belief system with others so they can better understand Christianity, which sadly in todays world has been given a black eye not only by those who do not understand it (mainly because they have been fed false Christianity in many cases) but also by those who would profess to follow it and do not live as they should as Christians.

I meant no harm in sharing my belief system and did so that all would know what I hold to and be better able to understand me as a person. As Mario has said many have shared what they value and see as truth, I feel it only right and fair that I do the same. Doug I am truly sorry if I confused you.

One thing I would say is true though, if we are not at peace in our belief then we need to examine if a change needs to be made.

Regards,
Jim

Jim,

I guess I am confused.  You seem fairly settled in your belief structure.  I hope I am not going to get the electronic chicken thrown at me (and please, I mean no offense by this at all), but I find it hard to classify you as agnostic.  You may agree with me on this, I am not sure, but I guess what I am really interested in knowing is, what is your "purpose" in this discussion?  Are you here because you question certain aspects of your faith, because it seems like you have things tied-down, based on the more absolutive statements you have made.  Again, please do not take this as an attack.  Labels are not neccesary, but since I am a scientist, I need to at least be able to classify you :-).

Regards,

Douglas Scheesley
