What: Synthesis of Reductionism & Holism; Other views of Intelligence

Reductionism & Holism are seen as opposites; I will argue that they are simply different stages of a larger process that can be generalized to support both concepts.

Other views of Intelligence - I would like to discuss my interpretations of some definitions of Intelligence.

At the end, if we have time, I would like to propose a possible structure for building AGI.

Alex has an unconventional exposure to Artificial Intelligence. As a recent Corporate Finance graduate from San Jose State he has had a very limited exposure to computer science. His interest in AI sparked after taking a Decision Science class. Most of his AI insight and experience has come from playing around in Microsoft Excel. He thinks that doing AI work in Excel rather than a more formal language has actually helped him learn AI faster as excel is a very user friendly and a high level language which speeds up theoretical R&D. Also, the need to translate AI into Excel forces an understanding of the whole process. Alex tends to work with evolutionary algorithms and neural networks with minimal programmer defined limits. A Holist by nature, he tries to find simple yet ubiquitous answers to problems. Recently, his AI project has outgrown Excel and he is currently studying Java and SQL to further his AI research.
